As a player and team captain, Bill represented both Scotland and Great Britain on 175 occasions.

Previously an Area Youth Organiser in Stirling, a Deputy Manager at Meadowbank Sports Centre, and latterly the Centre Manager at Wester Hailes Education Centre in Edinburgh, Bill has a strong sports management background. His knowledge and leadership qualities have assisted him greatly in the discharge of his duties as both Chair of basketballscotland and Chair of the British Basketball Federation.

A founder member of the Boroughmuir Basketball Club and a member of the team which was British Champions in 1972, he also played in club teams that entered the European Cup on five occasions. Bill has coached at all levels and has been secretary to the Boroughmuir Club since 1961.

Currently Bill is Chair of the British Basketball Federation and the British Masters Basketball Association as well as being a previous Chair of basketballscotland from 1990 to 2008.
