Sergio Lara-Berical's team were led by 15 points from Charlotte Stoddart, while Erica Woods added 11. Tamzin Barroilhet proved to be dominant on the boards with eight rebounds, while Dominique Allen pulled down seven boards. Maria Bousnaki led the Greeks with 18 points and four rebounds.
The British side started well, with Allen opening the scoring, and scores from Barroilhet and Kelsey Bardsley keeping them ahead in the first two minutes.
Scores from Bardsley, Stoddart and Woods saw Britain move into a 12-8 lead before a three from four Mary Durojaye free-throws completed a 7-0 run. However two turnovers in the space of 40 seconds allowed Greece to close out the period on a 7-0 tear of their own to send the teams into the first break level at 15-15.
Neither side were able to trouble the scorers in the first two minutes of the second period before Barroilhet ended the drought with a jump shot.
The teams were tied on 21 at the midway stage of the quarter, but Greece successfully slowed the tempo down and they went on a 6-1 run which took five minutes before Woods cut the deficit to 28-25 with a buzzer-beating three pointer.
The Greek lead was erased after 22 seconds of the second half as Stoddart completed an "and-one" after being fouled by Vaia Merisioti. Greece replied with three points from Niki-Maria Tsakiridou, but a Barroilhet jump-shot followed by a trey from Stoddart saw Britain hold a 33-31 lead with two minutes gone.
GB's run was extended to eight straight points as Woods drained from downtown to make the score 36-31 with 7:21 on the clock.
That proved to be as good as it got for the British team, though, as six straight points saw Greece saw cut GB's lead to a single point before Rush Davison broke the run and Woods hit another trey to push their advantage to 43-39 with four minutes remaining in the third.
That lead was erased with baskets from Bousnaki and Ioanna Diela, and only Barroilhet put any points on the board as Greece closed out the period with a 16-2 run to lead 55-45 at the final break.
Durojaye opened the fourth period scoring the cut the deficit to eight points and Harriett Yea knocked another two points off it with a jump shot at the 7:41 mark.
However, Greece replied with a pair of baskets re-open a double digit lead with six minutes remaining.
Yea kept Lara-Berciel's team in the game with four from foul shooting, but they still went into the final three minutes trailing 61-53.
As GB were forced to foul in the final two minutes, Greece drained three of four free-throws before Ypatia Limniatihit a jump shot to put them 66-53 ahead.
Stoddart completed a three-point play as Diela fouled out with 30 seconds remaining, but despite Leah Deehan scoring her only points of the game with a shot from downtown, the Greeks closed out the victory.
Britain return to action on Tuesday morning when they face Hungary.
