"We all knew we had a tough group when the draw was made, during our time in Poland and now that just confirms the quality that was in Group C," said Finch.
"It's also further confirmation that having been very competitive with all three teams without Luol [Deng] and Ben [Gordon] we are very close to breaking through."
Although Britain left the tournament without a win to their name they came close to causing an upset in their second game, when they held a four-point lead in the final quarter against Spain.
And Slovenia have been one of the dominant forces of the tournament so far, having topped the preliminary and qualifying groups, and have only lost one game in the process.
"For me, the 'group of death' turned out to be just that. It was no surprise to us that our group has supplied three of the four semi-finalists for this Eurobasket 2009," said British Basketball Performance Director Chris Spice.
"We always thought the three teams that went through to the last eight were of top quality and them all winning their quarter finals games has proved this to be true.
"We can sit and wonder what might have happened had we had our full roster and been drawn in another group. In the end though, with these tournaments you have to play with who you've got and if we are to be regulars at the top table, then our goal has to improve and do better each time.
"We aim to be here again and to be one of those teams that is being talked about on the last weekend of the championship. At this level it's a game of performing under pressure at the critical moments.
"We must learn from this experience and prepare on and off the court better than ever before. Our 2011 campaign starts in earnest with our debrief on October 5th. Competing well at this level this year has only heightened our desire and focus for a great performance in London in 2012.
"Only those committed to our short and long term cause will feature in future. We will will be ruthless in our pursuit of excellence."
Serbia and Spain both looked convincing in their semi finals; Serbia beat defending champions Russia and Spain knocked out a French side who were unbeaten until then.
The final will feature at least one team from Group C as Slovenia's victory over Croatia pits them against Serbia, while Spain take on Greece.
