Brixton responded well in the 2nd once again proving that they weren't just here to play the EBL 2008/09 runner's up as a newly promoted team and were in Cardiff to win a basketball game. The Topcats scrambled and rotated well rushing the Archers into frustrated decisions and rushed execution. The 2nd quarter finished in Brixton's favour 14-18, and meant the Archers went to the locker room with only a slender 2pt lead, 34-32.
Rochelle Davids & Gemma Salmon started the 3rd firing for the Topcats, but it was Sarah Wagstaff and Stef Collins that put a stop to any early pressure from Brixton. Wagstaff hit 2of her 4 free throws to keep the Archers close, after which GB senior and Archers captain #21 Stef Collins went on a short personal crusade collecting 11pts and finishing the quarter with a huge morale boosting 3pointer at the buzzer.
The Archers went into the 4th winning the 3rd quarter 21-14 and stretching their lead to 9pts. Brixton never took a step back though and constantly chipped away finding themselves at the free-throw line 10 times in the final stanza, hitting 7 of those to stay within inches of a closer finish. Scorers were spread from the Archers to finish the game with Dehaan, Avery, Kiefer and back to back lay-up's from Yalland supporting Stef's precision from beyond the arc to complete the job and make sure all the Archers fans went home happy.
