"We're really come together as a group , they're great team-mates and that gets us through games.
"It wasn't easy for them to miss out on the semi-finals, and they could easily have walked away from this one. So it's a real credit to the boys that they've stuck at it. We're looking forward to tomorrow and staking a claim for fifth place."
Five Brits were in double figures, with Alex Marcotullio leading the way on 17 points, as all 12 GB players got on the scoreboards and no-one played more than 25 minutes.
Will Neighbour and Ovie Soko each finished with 15 points, adding six and five boards respectively, while Ryan Martin added 12 and Andrew Lawrence ten.
After the disappointment of being pipped for a final four spot, Britain could have been excused for showing little interest in the classification games, but they started strongly and poured in the first 12 points.
Jamall Anderson launched the run, and back-to-back Marcotullio three-pointers wrapped it up before J Guerreiro put his side on the scoreboard after three and half minutes.
Portugal reduced GB's lead to 12-6 before Marcotullio took his tally to eight, and a pair of Nigel Van Oostrum free-throws saw Britain leading 22-14 at the first break.
Although J Soares cut that lead with the first score of the second period, Britain still held a comfortable 27-21 lead at the midway stage of quarter.
Anderson made it a ten point game with three first half minutes remaining and Lawrence's steal followed by a lay-up sent Britain into the locker room with a 44-29 advantage.
That lead grew to 51-33 after three and half minutes of second half action as Neighbour nailed a trey and although Barroso hit a three on a fast break, Ryan Martin sent GB into the final break with a 63-46 lead as he hit a buzzer-beating lay-up.
The Portuguese hit back-to-back treys through Barroso and Catarino to slice Britain's lead to 11 inside the first minute of the fourth quarter, but that was as close as they came with Soko and Marcotullio both scoring from downtown to put Britain 76-58 ahead with five minutes remaining.
The lead never dropped below 17 again, and a Martin dunk followed by a Jack Stannard free-throw wrapped up GB's sixth win in seven games.
