The 60-57 loss against Portugal and the 72-68 defeat against Finland in the opening two games gave GB an almost impossible task for the rest of the tournament. Although they reeled off victories against Luxembourg, Norway and eventual bronze medallists Czech Republic in their remaining first stage games, they were unable to progress to the quarter-final stage.
With Finland joining them in the 9-16th place section, that loss against the Finns came back to haunt them, and despite wins against Israel and Luxembourg, they found themselves in the 13-16th place group.
A 104-50 hammering of Romania saw them reach the 13th place play-off where Iceland were beaten 83-71 to end the tournament on a seven game winning streak.
With seven wins from nine games, GB had comfortably the best record of any side who finished 13th since the current two-division format started in 2005.
Ryan Richards led GB in scoring with 22.3 points per game which placed him seventh in the tournament and also in rebounds with 8.1 boards per game.
Devon Van Oostrum's five assists per game saw him take top spot in the tournament statistics. He added 7.1 rebounds a game finishing seventh in the defensive rebounding category with 6.6rpg - a considerable achievement for a guards - as well as scoring 13.1 points per game.
Alex Marcotullio finished the tournament with 16 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, and his 2.3 steals saw him ranked fifth in the tournament, while he made the third highest number of three-pointers per game with 3.2 scores from downtown.
Adam Thoseby and Ali Fraser added 8.9 and 8.8 points per game respectively, with both players top scoring for GB on one occasion to lead them to victory. Fraser added 4.2 rebounds per game, with fellow Scot Ali Mackay chipping in with 4.8 boards to go with his 3.7 points and Lee Goldsbrough finishing with 3.6ppg and 4.3 rebounds.
In Sunday evening's title game, Georgia defeated Estonia 79-70, with both sides promoted to Division A next season.
Georgia used a third quarter dash to open a lead Estonia never recovered back. Tornike Shengelia led Georgia with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Janar Soo was the top scorer of Estonia with 16.
In the game for the third place Czech Republic edged Belgium 86-85 thanks to a big fourth quarter comeback. Belgium held a 70-77 lead with 3:30 to play but saw the Czechs run 12-1 and take the lead until the final buzzer.
Tomas Vyoral had 24 for the winners and Dennis Donkor scored 28 for Belgium.
Fifth place was taken by Portugal thanks to a 71-67 victory against Bosnia & Herzegovina, while Denmark finished seventh following their 72-58 win against Bulgaria.
