Ieuan's first office in basketball was as Secretary of the Welsh Schools Basketball Association in 1964. He went on to act as Secretary, International Director, and Chairman of the governing body in Wales, Basketball Wales, during his 44 years of unbroken service.
Although currently a Director of the British Basketball Federation, Ieuan had previously chaired the British and Irish Basketball Federation on two occasions (1980 to 82 and 1985 to 87), served on the GB National Olympic Committee for eight years (1981 to 89), and had been the Head of Delegation for GB teams which participated in pre-Olympic qualifying events in Cuba and France (1984) and Singapore, Borneo and Malaysia (1988).
Whilst in the police service with the South Wales Constabulary, he was also instrumental in establishing the British Police Basketball Section, an organisation he went on to serve for many years as Vice Chairman.
Ieuan's considerable knowledge of basketball at all levels, his experience of previous British programmes, and his strong support as a Director within the British Federation made him a significant contributor to the current successful British structure. He was much loved and respected by all who knew him and he will be sorely missed by all his many friends in basketball.
Ieuan is survived by his wife Suzette, daughters Bethan and Shairon, and grandchildren Charlotte, Rhys, and Daniel.
