With the GB fanbase expected to swell in the countdown to London 2012, British Basketball was keen to find a way to recognise and reward those who were there from the start.
Clubs throughout England, Scotland and Wales will be able to earn money for coaching, equipment, kit or travel to the GB internationals by simply purchasing tickets to the games, all they need to do is nominate and register a rep by emailing register@courtsiderewards.co.uk. The rewards are as follows:
- For every £15 ticket sold clubs will receive £4 cash back
- For every £10 ticket sold clubs will receive £2 cash back
- For every £5 ticket sold clubs will receive £1 cash back
GB men"s coach Chris Finch has championed the scheme, claiming it is a great way to repay the support fans have already showed over the years.
"From a spectators" point of view British Basketball is the only chance to see the best players who are playing in top leagues across the world, in person," said Finch.
"A good scheme for fans can support the clubs. I think last year we had great support and it"s nice to have something to give back. Birmingham has one of the deepest basketball histories.
"There is definitely a core of BBL and NBL fans that will all benefit for this, especially since we are going to be in three really good British basketball areas."
Head women"s coach Mark Clark also praised the scheme, recognising that the national teams cannot function without strong support from the basketball community:
"The reward scheme helps recognise that it is the clubs and schools who help set current internationals off on their basketball careers.
"Without the enthusiasm for the game that school teachers, club coaches and administrators have, we would not have the national teams we have today."
