Twenty-five points, nine rebounds and three assists from Julie Page couldn't prevent an 80-69 defeat for GB Standard Life women in Israel this evening.
In the first of three EuroBasket test-games for Tom Maher's team, Jeneya Wade-Frey added 11 points and Natalie Stafford chipped in with nine.
Jo Leedham marked her return from injury with six rebounds and four assists, with Kim Butler adding five boards and Steph Collins five assists.
There was nothing to choose between the two sides in the first half, with GB level at 21 going into the first break and 39 at half-time.
GB shaded the third period 17-16 to lead 56-55 at the final break, but a strong fourth period saw Israel pull away as they outscored the visitors 25-13 to wrap up the win.
Maher still took some positives from the game: "It was definitely a game of two halves. With a young team there are a lot of positives to come from tonight" he said.
"We put a few things on the floor and there were a lot of good things to take from the game."
The teams meet again on Wednesday evening before wrapping up the three-game series on Thursday.
