Techniques of throwing the ball into the basket

Basketball

Basketball is particularly important for individual, two- or three-player exercises and games on technique of throwing the ball to the basket.

Basketball throwing is one of the most important technical techniques of basketball, which to some extent generalizes all other techniques.

In modern basketball the most important role from a technical point of view is played by one-handed shot in a jump or on the move, but in school instruction should pay attention to the throw with two hands on the move and from the spot.

Exercises performed from static positions are important to improve throwing accuracy. When teaching basketball players to shoot to the basket, attention should be paid to their adherence to the following requirements:

1) do not delay the timing of the throw;
2) keep the ball close to the torso in the initial position;
3) when throwing with one hand, point its elbow to the basket;
4) release the ball through the index finger;
5) accompany the throw by hand and arm;
6) to keep the eyes on the basket and focus all attention on it;
7) to watch the softness of the throw;
8) to keep the shoulders parallel to keep the balance.

The most common errors in throwing technique, according to our observation, are the inability to focus on the basket and excessive rotation of the ball.

Among the individual exercises on the technique of throwing it is necessary to allocate performance of throws from static positions from various distances, from close distance in movement and in jump after running the ball.

As well as from close range with deceptive movements and turns, with additional techniques and from different distances, making long throws and catching the ball in the basket.

The main part of the lesson should also include sets of exercises on the development of tactical basketball skills with ball handling (such exercises should be performed with the participation of two forwards and one guard) and the development of effective action for the weaker hand:

1) dribbling the ball with a less trained hand in a straight line with a minimum amount of hitting the floor;
2) transferring the ball on the spot and in motion from the weaker arm to the stronger arm;
3) catching the ball with the weaker hand and then picking it up with the stronger hand.
